Afternoon tutoring is given to kids receiving a Center scholarships. These scholarships go to help cover the economic costs of attending school–anything from clothing, transportation, books, to school supplies. In return for qualifying for a scholarship, students must do some kind of ‘social service’. For the older kids, that means tutoring the younger ones, helping read stories to little ones during the weekly Story Hour, helping clean, facilitate workshops, etc. For the younger kids, that means coming to tutoring and/or doing some light cleaning. Here in the Center, we all help and learn from one another! It’s a good model for life…
